Selfish Gen Z festivalgoers face criticism for sitting at the stage barrier and watching Netflix on their phones instead of the musicians: 'I'm stepping on that burger, I'll tell you that much'

For many people, going to festivals is the highlight of their summer and it isn't just because they are an excuse for nonstop partying. The chance to see your favorite musical artists perform and get some new recommendations to add to your Spotify playlists is a great reason to plan your time around seeing as many performances as possible.

Unfortunately, though, that doesn't stop some inconsiderate individuals from ignoring festival and concert etiquette just because they only came to see certain performers. This is something that has caused outrage recently after it emerged that a couple of festivalgoers at All Points East in the UK had taken a spot right next to the stage barrier and proceeded to watch Netflix through three separate sets as they waited for who they wanted to see.

It's no surprise that many music lovers found this behavior to be unacceptable. There are people who go to these things who actually want to experience everything they have to offer.

    Sean @seanbeegee. 1d These sort of people need utterly stigmatised within live music circles. Asked a few of them to stand up minutes before Lana Glastonbury 2023 when they were a danger to themselves and others and they acted like I had broken into their house and gone through their stuff

And unfortunately 9 times out of 10 it's the same people who don't know how to behave or respect others: serially online young people/stans. Sitting down at the front during support sets is just selfish & very dangerous.

    lyss des on the mic @mulled whine Follow i can't understand this at all..... like you can be annoying without being AWFUL. i've spent whole days at festival barriers for a single act but i LOVE grooving with artists i'd not have seen otherwise, or moving to make space on barrier for fans of earlier acts!!!!
